Spring
The below video was taken in the spring of 2022, and was a project that was in large-part botched from the get go. I was asked to create a video for a Denver-based studio, and for their Spring collection. While on the surface this felt like a very reasonable ask, it quickly became a nightmare. However, this nightmare was quite literally the situation that drove me to not only pursue the photography side of the fashion industry, but also to pursue it with ferocity. You see, it was on this day, that I was told I wouldn’t make it in this industry; I was told I would be blacklisted from then on out, anywhere I went. It was this statement that drove me. I was locked in from this moment forward. I knew that no matter what happened, I was going to work harder, research more, and push until I got to where I wanted to be.
While this video is one that I’m happy with, there are several things that I wish I’d known beforehand; namely, I wish that someone had told me before I’d done all of the recording, that they wanted the video to be done in portrait mode. As a result I was forced to effectively zoom every shot in and track movements as best I could, while trying not to cut the heads off of people in the frame. So while this video came out better than I’d expected (mind you this was certainly an early piece of video work for me) I still wish that I could do it all over again.
Without any further ado:
